Belichick was born in Nashville Tennessee on April 16 1952 the son of Jeannette née Munn and Steve Belichick. He began his coaching career at Vanderbilt University in 1975 and went on to coach with the Baltimore Colts, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns before joining the Patriots in 2000.

During his tenure with the Patriots, Belichick transformed the team into one of the most dominant forces in NFL history. Under his leadership, the Patriots won six Super Bowl titles (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLII, XLVI, and LI). He also led the team to 17 AFC East division championships and 13 AFC Championship Game appearances.

Belichick's success with the Patriots is due in part to his innovative defensive strategies and his ability to develop and motivate his players.
